It felt like Christmas morning for the counselors and staff. After many months of anticipation, the campers finally arrived! This week, we have the privilege of serving 47 campers who arrived at the campground this morning. There were some last minute changes for the campers attending, but God provided us with a foster sibling group of 3 girls that all got to attend. Thank you to all that serve, and a special thanks to the staff at Bay Life Church. It was a very smooth registration time for the campers because of all those who volunteered.
STORY OF THE ONE – SOTO
Each night we are going to try to share an experience with one of the campers. We call it a SOTO. One of the girls in the sibling group that was able to attend at the last minute came up to Scott at the carnival tonight. She said, “This has been the best day of my life. I am having so much fun!” It is hard to fathom that a simple carnival can make that much of a difference, but it made a huge impact in this camper’s life.
One of the highlights of the carnival was an appearance by Thunderbug! Also, The Tampa Bay Lightning provided a slapshot game, and all the campers had the chance to try on goalie gear. It was an awesome experience. There were bounce houses, cotton candy, snow cones, and lots of games provided by the men’s group at Bay Life.
Please pray for good weather. It looks like the forecast isn’t going to be great over the next few days. Also, please lift up the campers that they stay healthy throughout the week.
